Alien Definition

An alien is any person who is not a citizen or national of the United States of America. Other common ways to say alien include noncitizen or 'foreign national'. A Permanent Resident Alien is when an alien is admitted to the United States of America as a lawful permanent resident. All Permanent Resident Aliens are assigned a A-Number, or Alien Registration Number. Many USCIS forms also include the term Alien in their title, for example, the popular Family-Based Green Card Application which is called Form I-130 Petition for Alien Relative, or the K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa which is called Form 129-K Petition for Alien Fiancée.
