USCIS Form Updates: June 2017

USCIS will periodically update its immigration forms. Updates may include adding or removing questions, updating additional documentation or requiring new information. It is critical that applicants submit the correct version of a form along with their application package. When filing an immigration application, it is paramount always to use the latest version of each form.

What forms were updated in June 2017?

The following is a comprised list of all the forms that were updated in June 2017, as well as the correct versions you should send when filing an application.

> Form I-687, Application for Status as a Temporary Resident Under Section 245A of the Immigration and Nationality Act Form I-687, Application for Status as a Temporary Resident Under Section 245A of the Immigration and Nationality Act is used to apply to USCIS for benefits under the terms and conditions of certain settlement agreements.

New edition dated 06/20/17. Previous editions accepted.

> Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, is used to apply for asylum in the United States and for withholding of removal (formerly called "withholding of deportation"). You may file for asylum if you are physically in the United States and you are not a United States citizen. New edition dated 05/16/17. Starting 08/28/2017, only the 05/16/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 12/29/14 edition.

> Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur is used by entrepreneurs who wish to immigrate to the United States.

New edition dated 05/30/17. Starting 08/28/2017, only the 05/30/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 04/10/17 edition.

>Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance is used to request a text message and/or email when USCIS accepts your form.

New edition dated 09/26/14. You can also use previous editions..

> Form I-508F, Request for Waiver of Rights, Privileges, Exemptions, and Immunities for French Nationals Form I-508F, Request for Waiver of Rights, Privileges, Exemptions, and Immunities for French Nationals is used by French nationals receiving a salary from the Republic of France to comply with Section 247(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and the convention between the United States of America and the French Republic with respect to taxes on income and property. A French national intending to file this form must also complete Form I-508 and submit both forms together.

New edition dated 05/26/17. Starting 08/14/2017, only the 05/26/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 03/31/15 edition.

>Form I-508, Request for Waiver of Certain Rights, Privileges, Exemptions and Immunities Form I-508, Request for Waiver of Certain Rights, Privileges, Exemptions and Immunities is used by Non-U.S citizens working for a foreign government mission or international organization who are either Lawful permanent residents; or Nonimmigrants in A, G or E status who are seeking adjustment of status as permanent residents Form I-508 is used to waive certain diplomatic rights privileges, exemptions and immunities associated with their occupational status, including any exemption from paying U.S. income taxes on the salaries paid to them by their foreign governments or organizations.

Please note: French nationals are covered by a special convention between France and the United States and must submit both Form I-508 and Form I-508F to USCIS.

How do I know if I am sending the correct version of a specific form?

To make sure you are submitting the correct version of a form, simply check the bottom of the page where you will find the code name of the form followed by a date. The date shown reflects the date that particular form was last updated, or its edition date. To know if you are filing the correct form, check the edition date at the bottom.
