USCIS Form Updates: April 2017

USCIS will periodically update its immigration forms. Updates may include adding or removing questions, updating additional documentation or requiring new information. It is critical that applicants submit the correct version of a form along with their application package. When filing an immigration application, it is paramount always to use the latest version of each form.

What forms were updated in April 2017?

The following is a comprised list of all the forms that were updated in April 2017, as well as the correct versions you should send when filing an application.

> Form I-881, Application for Suspension of Deportation or Special Rule Cancellation of Removal (Pursuant to Section 203 of Public Law 105-100 (NACARA))

Form I-881, Application for Suspension of Deportation or Special Rule Cancellation of Removal (Pursuant to Section 203 of Public Law 105-100 (NACARA)), can only be used by a foreign national who is eligible to apply for suspension of deportation or special rule cancellation of removal under the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA).

New edition dated 03/21/17. You can also use previous editions.

> Form I-407, Record of Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status

Form I-407, Record of Abandonment of Lawful Permanent Resident Status, is used by lawful permanent residents to let the USCIS know that they have decided voluntarily to abandon their status as a lawful permanent resident (LPR) of the United States.

New edition dated 03/21/17. You can also use previous editions.

> Form N-648, Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions

Form N-648, Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions, is used by permanent residents who want to apply for U.S. citizenship and need to request an exception to the English and civics testing requirements for naturalization because of physical or developmental disability or mental impairment.

New edition dated 03/21/17. Previous editions accepted.

> Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion

Form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion, is used to file: An appeal with the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO); or A motion with the USCIS office that issued the latest decision regarding the applicant’s case (including a field office, service center, or the AAO)..

New edition dated 04/10/17. Starting 06/09/17, only the 04/10/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 12/23/16 edition.

> Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) K-1 Visa

Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) K-1 Visa, is used by nonimmigrants to petition to bring their fiancé(e) (K-1) and that person’s children (K-2) to the U.S. for the purpose of marriage, or to bring their spouse (K-3) and that person’s children (K-4) to the U.S. to apply for lawful permanent resident status.

New edition dated 04/10/17. Starting 06/09/2017, only the 04/10/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 12/23/16 edition.

> Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur

Form I-526, Immigrant Petition by Alien Entrepreneur, is used by nonimmigrants who are an entrepreneur and who wish to immigrate to the United States.

New edition dated 04/10/17. Starting 06/09/17, only the 04/10/17 edition will be accepted. Until then, you can use the 12/23/16 edition.

> Form I-914, Application for T Nonimmigrant Status

Form I-914, Application for T Nonimmigrant Status, is used to request temporary immigration benefits when the applicant is a victim of a severe form of trafficking in persons, also known as human trafficking.

New edition dated 02/27/17. You can also use the 01/18/17 edition.

> Form I-698, Application to Adjust Status from Temporary to Permanent Resident (Under Section 245A of the INA)

Form I-698, Application to Adjust Status from Temporary to Permanent Resident (Under Section 245A of the INA), is used to apply for adjustment to permanent resident status under the amnesty program provisions of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA).

New edition dated 03/03/17. You can also use the 12/23/16 edition.

How do I know if I am sending the correct version of a specific form?

To make sure you are submitting the correct version of a form, simply check the bottom of the page where you will find the code name of the form followed by a date. The date shown reflects the date that particular form was last updated, or its edition date. To know if you are filing the correct form, check the edition date at the bottom.
